Consigning a Dior Bag: What to Expect

Reviewed by Miss Jay-Ann

Consigning a Dior bag is not simply a matter of handing over a piece and waiting for a listing. A careful process protects the owner, the item, and the eventual buyer. The practical question is what happens between the first message and a live product page. Purse Maison's process moves through suitability, secure receipt, custody, documentation, authentication and condition review, commercial terms, listing, communication, sale clearance, and payout reconciliation.

This guide explains that journey in customer-appropriate language. It follows the current Consignment Intake to Payout SOP, which is marked draft-for-review. The SOP describes the control points; it does not create guaranteed acceptance, fees, turnaround times, sale timing, or payout promises.

At a glance: send a complete inquiry, follow the approved intake route, expect assessment before a final price or listing, review written terms before signing, and keep the intake reference and listing record for every later question.

What Purse Maison needs before accepting a Dior bag

The initial record can include contact details, preferred communication channel, the brand and model as represented, ownership history, condition, known repairs or alterations, inclusions, requested price or timing, and clear overview photos. This information helps the team decide whether the piece is potentially suitable for the approved categories, likely demand, condition, target value, capacity, and risk. The broader intake-to-listing guide is useful background, while the present article focuses specifically on consigning a Dior bag.

Photos support pre-screening, but they do not replace physical inspection. The SOP specifically says not to promise acceptance, authenticity, final price, sale time, or payout based on photos alone. Any early estimate is provisional until the bag has been physically inspected, routed for authentication and condition grading, and covered by approved terms.

If the item appears potentially suitable, the team issues a reference number and secure intake instructions. If it is not suitable, the lead is declined respectfully and the reason is recorded. An owner should be prepared to answer ownership and right-to-consign questions. Anonymous property, unresolved ownership concerns, unsafe or illegal goods, items outside approved categories, or submissions where the required identity or terms cannot be completed are not accepted under the SOP.

Choosing a secure intake route

An approved showroom intake or approved insured shipping route is selected. For an appointment, the operating record includes the date and time, consignor name, guest count, item count, and handling owner. For shipping, the consignor receives approved packaging, address, declared-value, tracking, and insurance instructions. The written terms control the extent of responsibility, so do not assume that a courier instruction creates a broader promise.

Do not place cash, passwords, unnecessary original IDs, or unrecorded valuables in a parcel. The goal is a clean record of the Dior bag and its documented inclusions, not a box of unrelated property.

What happens when the bag is received

Receiving establishes custody. For a high-value shipment, two staff should open it in an approved CCTV-covered receiving area. Before unpacking, the parcel may be photographed or recorded on every side, including its label and any visible damage or tampering. The source video is not edited.

Each item receives one unique intake ID before leaving receiving. Staff record the consignor or source, intake time, staff involved, the item identity as represented, declared value, provisional condition, and physical location. The bag's sides, interior, identifiers, inclusions, packaging, and visible defects are documented. For an in-person intake, both staff and consignor sign or acknowledge the receipt. For a parcel, the consignor receives a same-day receipt summary and any discrepancy is recorded.

The bag is then sealed or tagged and moved into a received-unverified status. At this point, it is not displayed, used, photographed for content, or shown to a client. That pause is a custody control, not a negative assessment.

Identity, ownership, authentication, and condition

The consignor provides approved identity and payout details through secure collection. The record also covers the representation of ownership or right to sell, disclosed repairs or alterations, authenticity knowledge, liens or claims, and acceptance of investigation and return rules. Proof of purchase is recorded only when available or required; the absence of a receipt is not itself authentication evidence.

The item remains unlisted and segregated until an authorised release state exists. It is routed to the authentication and condition-grading process. If additional external review is needed, the consignor is told why and given a revised timeline without implying a result. If review fails or remains inconclusive, the bag is not listed, altered, or casually returned. The relevant quarantine, dispute, and return rules apply.

For a Dior bag, this means a first message cannot settle authenticity or condition. A clean photograph may help a specialist understand the submission, but it is not a substitute for the authorised review stage.

How price and consignment terms are separated

Once the assessment is released, the team prepares a dated price rationale using verified identity, condition, inclusions, demand, comparable evidence, expected channel costs, and minimum economic requirements. The language matters because several figures can exist in one agreement.

The list price is not the same as the authorised markdown floor. Neither is the same as the consignor's net or payout basis. Purse Maison's fee or commission, approved costs, taxes, deductions, and payout trigger must be explained separately. Comparable asking prices are not proof of sale value, and sale timing is not guaranteed.

Before the Dior bag goes live, the consignor and Purse Maison document the list price, any minimum or markdown authority, term length, exclusivity if applicable, promotional use, fees and deductions, payout trigger and method, withdrawal or return terms, risk and loss allocation, dispute process, and unsold-item treatment. A bag does not go live on verbal terms alone. The consignor receives a signed copy and the agreement version is recorded.

From approved terms to a live listing

Listing preparation follows the product-intake and listing-data process. The live page must match the approved grade, disclosed defects, inclusions, and certificate. Condition cannot be hidden by retouching. The physical location and sellable quantity are confirmed before activation, and the consignor receives the live listing reference together with the key commercial terms.

Look at the listing as the public version of the intake record. If the listing omits a known defect or inclusion, or describes a condition grade that was not approved, it needs correction before a buyer relies on it. A thoughtful consignor can review the title, images, description, inclusions, and stated condition against the agreement.

Communication while the bag is live

The custody and commercial record continues after publication. Reservations, moves, client viewings, price changes, authorised repair or cleaning, and listing-status changes are recorded. Material updates include live, reserved, an offer requiring consent, sold subject to clearance, an issue or dispute, and a term or extension due.

The SOP calls for an approved routine status update even when nothing has changed, but the document describes its service levels as proposals pending approval. A customer should therefore ask which communication rhythm and terms apply to the signed agreement, rather than treating a draft target as a promise. No inquiry or urgency should be fabricated to pressure a decision.

What sale and payout actually involve

A reservation is made only under the approved hold or payment rule. After funds are independently verified, the item moves to sold-payout hold, availability is removed, and the sale details are preserved. The consignor is notified that the sale remains subject to final clearance and any contractual return or dispute condition. Payout is not promised early.

Finance verifies cleared buyer funds, the order value, discounts, taxes, payment or marketplace fees where the contract permits them, approved costs, refund or dispute status, and the agreement version. A payout statement identifies the item and intake ID, sale date, gross sale amount, each authorised deduction, Purse Maison's fee, consignor net, payout date, method, and reference. A second authorised person reviews the calculation and payee details against the secure master record.

The record closes only after payment confirmation, ledger update, document completion, and remittance acknowledgement. This is why a displayed price, a buyer message, or a sales screenshot is not enough to establish what a consignor is owed.

If the Dior bag does not sell

Before a term ends, the consignor is notified and offered the choices allowed by the agreement, such as extension, repricing, return, or another agreed path. Any permitted charge is calculated and disclosed before confirmation. No fee should be invented.

For a return, the bag is re-inspected against the intake evidence. Current condition and inclusions are photographed, discrepancies are resolved, and the verified recipient signs a dated release. Shipping or handover proof is retained. The listing is archived without deleting the historical product or custody record.

Philippine climate and consignor preparation

For an owner in the Philippines, practical preparation includes keeping the bag dry, cleanly packed, and protected from avoidable heat or moisture before an approved appointment or shipment. Do not add unrecorded contents to a parcel, and photograph the bag and its inclusions before handover so your own record matches the intake discussion. These are sensible preparation steps, not a substitute for the SOP's custody record or condition assessment. Owners comparing channels may also find this Southeast Asian collector guide useful for its broader record-keeping perspective.

The Purse Maison Verdict

Consigning a Dior bag should feel like a documented handoff, not a leap of faith. The reliable expectations are control points: complete pre-screening, secure receipt, a unique intake ID, custody evidence, identity and ownership checks, authentication and condition release, written commercial terms, accurate listing, recorded status changes, independently verified sale clearance, and a reconciled payout or documented return.

What cannot be promised from this SOP is acceptance, authenticity, a final price, a sale date, a fee amount, or a payout date. Ask for the applicable written terms and keep your intake reference. If you are ready to begin, request a consignment assessment through the Christian Dior collection context and provide clear photos with the information the team needs.

FAQ

Can I consign a Dior bag using photos only?

Photos can support pre-screening, but the SOP does not allow acceptance, authenticity, final pricing, sale timing, or payout to be promised from photos alone. Physical inspection and the later review stages are required.

Does a receipt prove that my Dior bag is authentic?

No. The SOP says proof of purchase is recorded when available or required, and lack of a receipt is not itself authentication evidence. The bag still follows the authorised authentication and condition process.

When does my bag become publicly listed?

After the item is released from authentication and condition review, written terms are approved and signed, and listing data, media, physical location, and sellable quantity are confirmed. The SOP does not make an unconditional public-listing promise.

How is my payout calculated?

Finance verifies the cleared sale and authorised deductions under the agreement. The payout statement separates gross sale amount, deductions, Purse Maison fee, consignor net, and payment reference. The contractual payout trigger controls when payment can be made.

What if I want my unsold bag back?

Choices at expiry or withdrawal depend on the signed agreement. The process includes notification, disclosure of any contractually permitted charge, re-inspection against intake evidence, verified handover, and signed release.
